It was rough going there for a minute

But, I got thru the second part of my three part educational plan, receiving an Associate's Degree in Broadcast Communications this past May. It didn't take me as long as I thought it might, and that's a good thing. All that walking to school (two miles one way!) just about killed me (and probably ruined my left knee forever).

The pain is being kept to a dull roar at the present time. I looked into that new precription drug for FMS, and I'm not sure I like all the side effects. With my luck, I'd have one or all of them. That's just the way my luck seems to work these days.

The good news is that I may have health insurance as soon as August, because I can get a policy thru the university I'm attending to work on my Bachelor's. I still have questions to ask about pre-existing conditions and all that.

I'm going to be moving closer to the university, so hopefully my commute will be much less. Gas prices hurt my bottom line, and the closer I can get to campus, or a bus line, the better it will be for me.

Hopefully, I'll go into a long period of normalcy as far as flares are concerned.

Hi Stef - thanks for sharing your experiences. I've been recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and am completely overwhelmed. But I am an expert in being proactive about my family's health, so now I just need to turn it on myself.

On the issue of health insurance, I hope that it's similar to our experiences with employer-based insurance. My son had an existing condition that made private insurance cost-prohibitive. However, when my husband got a job, there was no issue adding him to the employer-sponsored plan - they asked no questions.

Good luck to you.

Where do you plan on getting your BS from?

Hi Stef, just discovered your blog today. Congrats on completely your first degree! It's a great feeling. My son got health insurance when he was a student and because it was a group plan, pre-existing conditions were not a factor at all. I wondered if you'd thought about taking online classes, especially in the winter if you have to do a lot of walking. With my physical limitations increasing over the past few years, I had to give up teaching on campus and now I teach online. I have quite a few students who have disabilities that make going to campus for classes difficult. That's why they take online classes. Just something to think about.

I'm enjoying reading your blog posts. Visit me sometime on my blog.
